What a surprise to find these handcrafted beers on tap at this little mountain retreat. Clear and amber in color, with a slight head the stuck around like you inlaws, this brew came in a 8 oz. Pour. The oakiness is prevalent in the nose but not intrusive. There is a nice hint of apple and nectarine in the taste. The hops are understated in the finish with some strong oak lingering. A very nice surpriise indeed.

Appearance is a cloudy orange with less than a finger of head that dissipated quickly and left little lacing. Kind of an odd sour note in the nose. The taste is malty with a dose of solid fresh hop bitterness to balance it out. There is some residual alcohol on the finish to accompany the bitterness of the hops. There is also a lingering sweetness in the aftertaste. Overall - a good effort.

Gorgeous, 25.4 oz bottle and label. There guys pay attention to detail on marketing and aesthetics. Not a bad thing. The restaurant is also gorgeous, as is the location. In fact, so is the overall philosophy. But I have yet to be impressed by their beers. Nor the food at the restaurant.

This particular beer pours like apple juice, and looks like it too. No head. The oak barrel provides most of the aroma together with the honey. The taste is all honey. A little too sweet. Zero tartness which I was hoping for. It's also VERY flat, which I expected from the head. Not a drain pour, but quite disappointing.

On tap at the grey lodge.

A- golden orange in color with a nice glow to it. No head to be seen.

S- very subdued nose. Hint of apple and sweet.

T- malty sweetness with toffee and caramel. Some oak and nuttiness, almost like pecan pie at times.

M- medium body and about the same in carb. Semi dry finish.

D- well used abv hint of it but never too much. Nice stuff. I wonder if there is a barrel involved. It seems that way.
