The beer is copperish in color with practically no head save a few "bubble islands" on the surface of the liquid.
Aroma is of sweet malt. Slight hints of caramel and, even more faintly, apple are in there. There is also an evident sour characteristic, maybe from a house bacteria (as a few of their beers have it, but this one to a higher degree) Not much by the way of hops is apparent here.
Moutfeel is medium with a slick feeling on the tongue, carbonation is medium low.
The taste is again malty sweet with a sour tartness behind that. Hops are light. There is a hint of a rye like characteristic in there too, as well as some medium fruitiness (apples maybe?).
Finally found my notes from when I reviewd this beer back in March. The ABV was somewhere around 10 or 11 percent, but am not sure exactly so I did not enter that field. Not a traditionally brewed doppelbock, which is why some of the scores are a little low, but interesting enough. The server warned be before ordering that their doppelbock this year was a little different than in earlier years. There was a house limit of two per person due to the high ABV, but any more than that would be too much anyway. Try it out, but don't expect your normal doppelbock.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
