Had on tap at The Pub. Review from phone notes.
A- Pours a black color that seems to be watery if that makes any sense. One finger healthy mocha colored head stays for a short bit. Leaves very light racing streaking lace on the glass as I drink it down.
S- This beer has a muted smell that makes it hard to tell what is going on. The biggest aroma is a big malty extract bomb going on. I don't know how else to describe it. Light smokey something in the backing of this. Nothing else besides this. If you were to tell me this smelled like stout I would tell you you were full of shit.
T- Taste follows suit of the smell. This just tastes like a big homebrew that wasn't brewed with any love. Bland...really doesn't taste like anything at all. Light malty flavors are all I can detect...until the beer warms up. Soapy flavors come into play when I don't drink this fast enough and it starts to warm.
M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Extract tastes are that is left on the palate and in the aftertaste...except when it warms then it's soap. Doesn't even come close to tasting clean at all...I take that back it doesn but just soapy clean.
D- The fact that this doesn't taste like anything makes this a great drinkable beer. The fact that this doesn't taste like anything makes this a horrible drinking beer. Does that make any sense to anyone else besides me?

On-tap at the brew-pub.
We were far more impressed with their lighter beers and our satisfaction seemed to decrease with the increase in darkness of the beers.
Very dark, walnut-brown, not a lot of head going on, a little watery-ness in the appearance despite the deep dark color.
Smells nice, nutty-smoky, molasses, hints of hops.
Taste is rather weak and watery, a bit flat on the tongue, has some nice traits but lacking in fully-developed character.
Drinkable yes, but a bit boring overall.

Tried this beer last night as I celebrated passing my oral exams (part of my PhD program). Fairly good looking beer. black with a foamy head when poured from the pitcher. not much odor but it was served much too cold. let it warm it before i tasted it. Taste was extremely bland. hardly any flavor although i could detect some maltiness. first oatmeal stout i've had that tasted more like porridge than beer. a bit thin in its consistency as well. overall, not impressed.
