Clear reddish-brown hue, light in color for a doppelbock, it was served with a finger of off-white head that faded quickly to a soapy cap that held well. The lacing was spotty but present. The bouquet was malty, rich, with buttery diacetyl throughout. The potency is fair but inviting nevertheless. The palate is much crisper and sharper than I expected, not very doppelbock like, it is thinly malty with more of a hops bite than there should be. Also it is highly carbonated which detracts from the enjoyment. The maltiness is small with notes of caramel and chocolate, more of it is needed, but it pairs well with a butterscotch note, this trio is very present in the aftertaste. I find it a little hollow as a whole. Medium in body, which seems too thin, but it is tolerable. Decent mouthfeel. It is easy to drink, maybe too much so, I found it tasty enough to quaff a pint but not much more. If you are a fan of doppelbocks you might be disappointed. It is a decent beverage.

Wow, an excellent choice if you attend this bar. Poured a dark brown with a thick creamy tan head that lasted a while. The aroma...MALT. The taste...MALT. I highly recommend this and place it as one of my favorite dopplebocks.
