Shinny black hue, opaque, there was no penetration of light, the faint beige head was served two fingers in height, the retention was fantastic, at least a finger lasted throughout the entire consumption. However subsequent lacing was nonexistent. The nose is uneventful but typical for a dry stout, largely clean with hints of roasted malts that produce whiffs of coffee, watery. It seems to be a Guinness clone, minus the lame-ass nitrogen. The palate is simplistic but dead-on for the style; light roasted malts impart coffee flavors, hints of sweetness, dry, watery, and very drinkable. The low abv creates a good session brew; I mean this is what the style is for, right? Medium-light in body, low and natural carbonation, it works well. It is an easy drinking stout, most agreeable. Simplistic but tasty but typical, if you’ve ever had a Guinness or an Old #38 Stout you’ve had this one.

Poured a near black with a moderate tan creamy head. The aroma was roasty with hints of chocolate and malt. The flavor was so dry and roasted, but the hints of chocolate came through as it lingered on the tongue. Too dry and roasty for my tastes, but a well crafted beer. I liked the porter better.
