AMBROISIES SERIES
Brewed just once a year St-Ambroise Vintage Ale has earmed a bushell of intemational medals and praise. Its masterful blend of barley and wheat malts includes Munich mait, giving the unfiltered beer an appealing orange glow and superb malty favour.
You'll love its notes of caramelized fruit, evoking memories of plum pudding and refreshing hoppy finish.

Still young, malty, quaffable. A barleywine, not great but sharable and accompanyable for food. Lots of foaming head. Fair price at the LCBO so why not?

Pours clear garnet with a chunky, everlasting off white head. Loads of fresh bread, toffee, raisin, dark rum in the nose. The taste is extremely malty with waves of caramel, stewed fruit, and bready malts interspersed with herbal hops and spicy booze notes. The mouthfeel is full bodied and sparse in carbonation. An abundance of malts on the long finish, light hop bitterness and booze heat as well.
A fantastic Barleywine with enormous malt complexity. Worth a try.

Deep dark copper body, nearly clear, forming a full, steady, sand coloured head with good retention.
Aroma hints at the strength of this beer, balanced with notes of fruit cake, rum, prunes, toasted and toffee malt, cinnamon, raisin - made for the holidays.
The first couple of sips hit hard with a breadth of character - sticky toffee, smooth creamy butterscotch, sweet dried fruit, sharply bitter hops in the finish, the warm heat of alcohol. The alcohol heat is a touch unrefined, could use some mellowing out. Medium-full body, with light, fine prickle carbonation.
A touch rough around the edges, but all in all a tasty ale to warm you on a cold night, full of flavour and with interesting balance.

Poured a 473ml can into a tulip. A big four finger tan head into a clear copper. Excellent head retention. Sticks around to the end. Sheets of thick lacing.
Spicy malts in the nose. Toffee and caramel. The taste follows the nose. Tons of malt layers. Toffee and caramel. Warming alcohol.Dark fruits emerge. A subdued but present hop finish.
Medium body and good carbonation. Overall a fine ale, rivalling the best of the big beers.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and slightly chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From the Huron Church Rd. LCBO in nearby Windsor. My 6th beer from the Montreal, Quebec brewery, and for 2025. My 1000th different beer, since I decided May 16/24 to take my favourite hobby to the next level. Reflected upon in private moments by Sundae the cat...
