On tap at Inland Empire Brewing Company in Riverside, CA.

The board listed this batch at 5.8% ABV.

Pours a murky brown with a foamy tan head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, slight caramel, and some earthy dirt-like aromas. Taste is much the same with a sweet toast flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but I think it tastes better than it smells.

App: No head retention, nice lacing, offwhite head. Color is a super clear coffee brown with a bit of rusty around the edges. Tight head form.

Nose: Clean, coffee, toffee, malty.

Taste: Totally drinkable! very smooth with a nice mouthfeel. Carbonation comes in and out throughout the taste. Not much going on here. Some malty smoothness, a little crisp carbonation with hoppy bite.

Notes: Everything is very subtle! This makes for a very enjoyable beer for a party, or large gathering where you dont need to concentrate, just drink:)

On tap at the tasting room, reviewed from notes.

A - Medium brown with ruby highlights. Decent head fades quickly. no lace.

S - Caramel and toffee sweetness, walnuts, and brown sugar.

T - Caramel & toffee sweetness first, with soft nuttyness in the middle & back.

M - Medium body, light carbonation.

D - High. Very sessionable.

Probably the best of the IE bunch. A solid, highly drinkable brown.

One liter growler from the brewery in Riverside on Saturday for twelve dollars, consumed tonight and shared with my dad, poured into a Port Brewing pint glass

A-Medium brown color with some highlights, small 1/4 inch bubbly off white head, lots of carbonation, some retention and lacing
S-Malt, roasted cashews, brown sugar, figs, molasses, bread, and barley
T-Starts off with a nice rounded nutty taste, caramel and brown sugar in the middle, more nuts and slight sweetness in the finish, some nice malt backbone especially when it warms, not sweet but more toasted and tastes good all the way through
M-Milky, nutty, dry, and chewy mouthfeel, medium bodied, lighter side of carbonation, taste lingers a little bit
D-Light on the stomach for its style, not filling or overly sweet, little alcohol but what is there is still hidden well, could have drank than a few glasses of this

Good amount of malt and nuttiness in this brown, definitely my favorite of the four beers from this new brewery, will drink again when I go back, have not a decent brown in a while and this hit the spot tonight, recommended
