Appearance- This beer is a dark brown amber color. The head and lace are just a little off white and less than two fingers.
Smell- A very sweet and earth beer. I could smell nuts, wood and grassy tones.
Taste- I felt that most of the flavor was in the aftertaste very wood of the flavor was in the aftertaste very wood and must and musty with a mild bitterness.
Mouthfeel- Average.
Drinkability- It was good with food but it is not a beer I cared to much for by itself.

From a 2L growler - served chilled in a flute style water glass. Pours a very dark brown that is hard to see through with a 1 finger, tan head that leaves little lacing. When the head dissipates it looks almost like Pepsi. The aroma consists of caramel, nuts, earth, molasses, and a bit of a flowery/fruity scent. The taste is very earthy with some grapefruit-flavored hops hiding in the back. It is slightly creamy with a subtle bitterness (18 IBUs). The body is fairly light and it has a decent mouthfeel. Not too complex - would be easy to make a session out of it. The assistant brewer told me this is usually a hit with the macro drinkers but the educated think it is more of an average brew. Dunno if it's true, but out of the 11 Calhoun's beers that I've reviewed, this is my lowest rated.
