Saw that my local brewpup tried their hand at a Belgian so I filled a growler - twice the normal price due to the %. Served in a Chimay chalice. Pours a dark red/brown with a light tan 1 finger head that doesn't leave much lacing. The aroma is fruity and sweet but not very powerful. Flavors include raisins/figs, bananas, apples, caramel, and bubblegum with almost no detectable alcohol - good job Calhoun's. This beer is thick and chewy and surprisingly drinkable for the alcohol content (my sister and I managed to finish the growler). Since I added the beer I had to guess the style and my closest approximation is a strong dark Belgian. It makes a nice session beer - not too overwhelming but complex enough to keep you interested all night.
