Another new beer from my local brewpub.... 2L growler - served chilled in a pilsner glass. Pours a bright golden-yellow with a white 2 finger head that is almost creamy. Just letting the head settle leaves a ring on the glass. Sadly this is the majority of the lace in the sample. Initially, the smell is kinda off-putting - metal, a bit of skunk (think Heineken), grains, and some faint spicy/citric hops. As it warms, the hops try to overtake the metal/skunk notes and makes it more pleasing to the senses. The first sip punches you in the face with floral/citric hops that show traces of pine. The bitterness is substantial (42 IBUs) and lingers pleasantly. Some grains and a bit of sweetness are also on the palate. Very crisp and clean and the mouthfeel is pretty smooth for a lager. Subsequent glasses have much more lacing and aroma.
