This was a beer that clay pipe presented at the Maryland Oktoberfest. They simply said it was a barleywine. I have labled it as English. Based on the fact its taste was malty rather than hoppy as most American Barley wines are.
It poured a dark brown with a matching head. The aroma was of floral hops. The taste was of bold malt mixed with dark fruit and finishing with a burst of floral hops and an alcohol burn. The feel was light and oily. Quite an impressive Barley Wine and a wonderful way to finish out the beer fest.
