Had this on tap at Max's in Fell's Point in Baltimore.(Great selection there by the way) Finally a beer that made me proud to be from Maryland. Im sick of all these Pennsylvanians with their Troegs and their Victory and their Stoudt's.
I should start by saying this is far better than the other offering I've had from this brewery, Backfin.
This is a very well-balanced beer, heavy on the hops, but heavy on the malt also. A reddish beer with a thick head that laced well. Couldnt distinguish much of a smell with all the cigarette smoke. The 9% is unnoticeable, but the headache you'll get after consuming a few too many definitely is. Very smooth. I could easily put down a six pack of this if I were seeking a trip to the emergency room.

At Max's on Broadway. An aged One & Done from 2003. An interesting brown-red color with no head. The beer is close to flat and is pretty oxidized already. The smell is of old ssweet malt and a lots of oxidation. The taste is pretty good but the body is too thin and dulls the old ale flavors of highly oxidized malt with vinous hints. I hope they continue releasing these as I have seen Clay Pipe only get better over the years.
