A: The beer is clear golden yellow-orange in color and has a moderate to high amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high off white head that died down, consistently leaving a thin head covering the surface and a lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of passionfruit are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell but the passionfruit flavors are a little stronger and there is also a light amount of bitterness. Some woodiness is noticeable in the finish.
M: It feels a bit shy of being medium-bodied on the palate and has some crispness along with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I found this pale ale to be rather enjoyable because it was easy to drink and delivered nice aromas and flavors from the hops.

Orsted Olbar, Copenhagen - Pours hazy golden with a small white head. Nice lacing. Smell - citrus, piney. Taste - Citrus to the fore with a light bitter finish. Lovely easy drinker APA.

 

 

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an amber color and a clear consistency. There was an inch and a half of foamy, long-lasting head. Good lacing.

S: A decent, but not incredible, aroma of hops, caramel, and a floral element.

T: Tasted of hops, a light floral quality, caramel, a little citrus, and some malt. While the flavor here is pretty good, it never seems to break out. The hops content needed a bit more of a push.

M: A good amount of carbonation with a thin finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This isn't Beer Here's best effort, but it is still, in general drinkable.

 

 

 

 

500ml bottle. One of the more decidedly low-key labels for this brewery.

This beer pours a hazy medium golden amber colour, with three fat fingers of puffy, silkily foamy dirty white head, which leaves some chunky layers of stratified rock lace around the glass as things sink away.

It smells of bitter grapefruit and orange citrus, a muddled, yet complex array of tropical fruit esters, bready, and somewhat gamey caramel malt, a touch of rock toffee, some spicy wheat notes, and further floral, leafy hops. The taste is once again a pleasant blend of zingy domestic and tropical citrus rind, bready caramel and edgy wheat grain malt, a touch of earthy yeast, all topped up with more resinous pine and perfumed floral hops.

The bubbles are soft, but pervasively frothy, the body just on the lee side of medium weight, and generally smooth, with a touch of hard water character, the hops not up to any sort of malfeasance here. It finishes fairly dry, the malt petering out, while the hops show some adequate staying power.

A decently rendered hopped-up pale ale, the worldliness of the hop bill at least noticeable at times. I'm sure I could enjoy a few of these, before I clued into the retail cost, and cut it loose, in favour of any other IPA-wannabe pale ale, with all other things being equal, preferably something more local.

 

 

 

 

A - Hazy golden-orange with a finger of frothy white head. Fades normal.

S - Sweet caramel and biscuit malts, grapefruit, citrus, floral, and pine hops.

T - Sweet caramel and biscuit malts, grapefruit, citrus, floral, and pine hops, some lightly resiny bitterness.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a dry, bitter, lightly sweet finish.

D - Nice APA. Good overall balance.

 

Pours a bright orange-gold. Quite cloudy - some yeast may have kicked up as I was pouring, as there is definitely a good bit of lees in the bottles. Decent enough head. White and foamy. Moderate lacing. A very thin layer of bubbles remains after a couple minutes.

Wonderfully hoppy aroma. Tangerines, pine, spruce, honeysuckle, lavender, raspberries. Lots of hop delicacy and complexity, but it tends towards those bright, sweet citrus tones - possibly Citra, but I'm bad at picking out specific varietals. A little bit of wheat spice, perhaps, and some pale malt sweetness in the background.

Starts with a bright citric hop note. Hop flavor abounds on the palate. Lots of tangerine and orange hoppiness. The malt is definitely a background note and contributes just a touch of malt sweetness in the background. It's a pretty dry APA, which is my preference for the style. Lasting hoppy finish. I'm left with a pleasant mouthful of pine needles and orange pith - sounds bad but meant in a good way. There's just hop flavor throughout the beer. Little bitterness despite the light body and dried out malt. Great stuff.

Mouthfeel is light and sudsy. Really dries out in the finish. Perhaps, a touch of hop oiliness. Very easy to drink.

This is a delicious APA and another winner in the recent dry/pale malt/hop-forward trend for the style, a la Zombie Dust, Row 2/Hill 56, etc. I wish it was a bit cheaper, but that's not really their fault. At any rate, this is a delicious beer.

Pours and amber/gold with minimal haze and a thin cap of loosely packed white foam. Retention is good as is the lacing. Intriguing mix of hop aromas. Mingling of grapefruit and tropical/passion fruit. Also a bit of piney/grassy. Shades of orange peel make their way across the palette with a crisp, clean malt profile that finishes dry and clean. Easy, approachable body with a semi-brisk carbonation level that helps to clear the palette at the end of each sip. Definitely captures the drinkable spirit of an American Pale Ale though the flavor is just a bit thin. I certainly wouldn't have guessed it was made in Belgium.

 

Amber gold color, chill-hazed, with an ample white head that dissipates to a film and ring, with substantial sticky lacing.

Smells of light wheat malt and citrus (grapefruit and orange) and floral notes, and a hint of honey sweetness.

Lovely concentrated grapefruit and orange citrus and some pineapple flavor supported by a very light and clean wheat cracker malt and a little sugary sweetness. A little bitterness and clove spice makes for a nice finish. It is great to taste a beer that takes advantage of west coast hop flavors (simcoe and chinook) so deftly and with such a light touch.

Light on the palate, this is crisply carbonated yet almost creamy in mouthfeel and very refreshing.

I really enjoy this beer. It has nice citrus hop flavor, low ABV, it is crisp and refreshing, and the bitterness is just enough to invite another swig of citrusy deliciousness. When you want flavor and less alcohol, this would be a terrific choice. Unfortunately, being imported from Denmark, it is a pricy one at $10 for a 16 oz bottle or twice as much as Pliny in the NorCal area.

A: Pours a slightly cloudy light amber with a fair amount of dense white head. The head dissipates to a film on the surface with a slightly thicker ring around the edge of the glass, which leaves large patches of lacing.

S: Hops, mostly sweet orange-y citrus, with a touch of yeast.

T: Very nice. Mild but tasty, again mostly hops, but more of the floral notes rather than bitterness.

M: Body is on the light side of medium, and medium carbonation.

Overall, really nice. Tasty and refreshing with a fairly low ABV. I'd buy 6-packs of this all summer if it were feasible.

Pours a good whitish-gold with a frothy head into my glass. Very nice presentation here. I admire such a thing.

Nice pine bite, man. I love pale ales that put more effort into showcasing hops without treading too much into IPA territory. The ABV is quite sessionable.

Taste is even better with a decent mix of citrus and pine and lots and lots of bready, tasty malt. Oh my god, the flavors just explode in my mouth!

What's left is a the essence of freshly baked bread, topped with a stick of delicious butter. Mmm, waffles seem to mesh with it.

Oompa loompa loompity lupulus, how I shall admire your courageous hoppiness, you'll bring me bliss and happiness, and leave me with plenty to assess.

Love the label and pours a dark murky orange hue which leaves a two finger head and nice lacing everywhere,the smell is toffee,caramel candy,herbal hops and barley sugar.the mouthfeel is just under medium bodied and has tastes of sticky toffee,caramel candy mixed with fresh rainwater,a touch of nuts and finished with a light hoppy bitterness tinged with a light sweet touch of marzipan and overall its nice and very sessionable but wouldnt rush out and buy again cheers.

Pours hazed amber-coppery body with rather thin beige head that dissipates. Nose is quite IPAish with nice balance between earthy, floral, citrus peel-like hops and caramel malt aroma. I pick up some fruitiness too.

Flavor is of caramel malt-base with citrusy and earthy-spicy hops, and pronounced buttery notes. The beer has an abrupt clean finish. Despite buttery-smooth the body seems somewhat watery. (500 ml, BB date 12-31-2011, into tulip.)

A: Hazy golden amber color with a medium sized off-white head.

S: Lots of grapefruit, lemon-peel, hop resins and pine-needles. The hop character is rather big considering that this one is just an APA, not an IPA. Some caramel malts beneath the hops.

T: Again, very hop forward with dominating flavors of grapefruit, hop resins and pine-needles. Perhaps a note of tobacco. A decent malty backbone with plenty of caramel delivers some sweetness. The finish is quite bitter with notes of hop resins and grass. The finish lacks a little strength and richness, but other than that, the taste is quite good.

M: Medium body with a rather crisp texture. It almost gets a little try in the finish.

D: A good beer with a very impressive hop character considering the style. Wouldn't turn it down if I was offered another.
