Rugbrød
Beer Here
Rye has been part of the Danish diet since the Stone Age.
Typically, it has been wasted on dry bread and crusty bread. But now the brave rye plant has come into its own and has finally ended up as beer.
In this case, it's an interpretation of the classic Viennese beer but with a modern twist from a cheeky burst of fruity cascade hops. Perfect for the warm dishes on the lunch table.

Copenhagen 12/8 2021. 33 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh. Ø. Drawing of a chubby fellow consuming a huge lumb of rye bread on the label.
Pours unclear, golden yellow with a small white head. Settles as thin, flimsy patches of foam floating around. No lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with a sharp grainy sour scent. Sweet pale malts, dark bread and cardboard. Sour grains.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, oily, lively and tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a notable sweet undertone. Lingers for a bit. Finish is rather dry.
Decent take on a rye beer without overdoing it.
