Fermented with a Belgian Trappist yeast from the Rochefort monastery, Brun Sovs provides notes of prunes and red apples, which is traditionally used in the stuffing for the Danish chrismas-dinner bird. Full-bodied for its modest strength, malt-forward with hints of dark fruits, burnt sugar, and a short dry finish that makes you want to take another sip.
They say Christmas is a feast for the heart. But it is first and foremost a feast for the sauce. Beer is brewed from barley, which also happens to be used as pig feed. No wonder beer and pig go so well together!
Enjoy this cozy dark Christmas beer with warm dishes during Christmas lunch.
The taste is dominated by chocolate, with notes of bread, coffee and vanilla. Ends with a finely balanced bitterness.

Copenhagen 26/11 2020. 33 cl bottle from SuperBrugsen, Brønshøj Torv, Brønshøj. Drawing of a Christmas dinner table with brown gravy being poured into a beer glass (yummy).
Pours clear, maroon with a mid-sized white head. Settles as thin almost transparent layer of foam. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with a light grainy sourness. Lightly toasted malts, caramel and brown sugar.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, watery, lively and tingling texture.
Flavor is moderately intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a moderate bitterness. Lingers for a bit. Sweet and thin finish.
Quite on thin side for a brown gravy. Had expected an opaque, murky, thick substance.
