Copenhagen 28/12 2019. 33 cl can from Bornholmerbutikken, Torvehallerne, Kbh. K. Drawing of Ghanesh sitting in a bowl of hop flowers holding a glass of dark beer and a cup of coffee.
Pours murky, unclear, dark brown with a huge, off-white head. Stable. Settles as a 2 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Massive lacing.
Aroma is intense, sweet and with rather strong citric notes. Roasted dark malts, brown sugar, caramel. Moderately strong odor of coffee. Notes of grape fruit and lime.
Medium carbonation. Medium thick, smooth, soft yet lightly tingling texture.
Flavor has a strong sweetness followed by a medium-strong citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter-sweet with the bitterness in the steering position. Lingers for a while.
Intense brown ale which could use a tad more coffee to live up to the name. But nicely balanced and with enough hops to make me wonder if I am drinking a black IPA.
