Pours a two finger light tan head over a brilliant brown liquid. Smells hazelnut, grassy hop, a little bit of chocolate, and drying roasty. Mild piney hop aroma. Similar to a schwarzbier, with some brown ale character on top.
Tastes nutty and dry chocolate with a nice grassy american hop rough for complexity. Hop flavor is more grassy than any American citrusy character, but it's much more agressively hopped than an English Brown Ale. Drying finish leads to a lingering dry chocolate finish. Touch of sour astringency in the finish that's a bit distracting. Light body with some dextrinous character. Modest carbonation and decent drinkability.
