Red-orange color with a tight-packed head of small bubbles. Notes of tobacco leaf, wood smoke, and peppery hops on the nose. Pleasant, but not overpoweringly strong.
The flavor is woody up front, with sweet caramel malt to balance. Still a lot of peppery rye notes as well. The finish is pretty long and more than a little bitter. The mouthfeel is relatively chewy for a pale ale type of drink, and almost creamy.
I enjoyed round one, but that's about enough.
