On tap at Mt. Emily, $6 for 12 oz poured into tulip.
Pretty significant light tan head, slow dissipation, decent lacing, over clear light brown body with reddish highlights no visible carbonation. Nose is malt forward, brown sugar sweetness with a hint of vanilla from Jack Daniels barrel, grassy hops pushed to background. Taste is certainly on the sweet side, significant vanilla notes, not picking up much barrel char profile, I picked up some buttery diacetyl notes in nose and on tastebuds, aggressive alcohol heat, sticky finish, IMO this needed more time in barrel, still pretty hot, though to be expected for this ABV. Mouthfeel a bit on the thin side for style. Not bad, but not in the same league as Doggie Claws, Hellshire, etc. Fairly complex taste, will probably be better in 6-12 months.
EDIT- Tried again on 9.6.11. Still picking up the butter(scotch) notes and significant charring from barrels. Reinforces my belief that this is the wrong barrel for aging any quality beer.
