Bare Bones Doppelbock

5.5% abv. A clear, deep reddish-mahogany body rests beneath a thin cap of creamy ivory foam. Unfortunately, the head fades quickly (possibly due to its high alcohol content?) and leaves only minor lacing about the glass. The nose expresses fruit and caramelized sugars, some grainy maltiness, and a subtle touch of alcohol. The body is medium and it's lightly crisp on the tongue with a fine, median carbonation that warms to become slightly creamy. The flavor follows the aroma but displays a richer maltiness with some toastiness and a toffee-ish character as well. It's balanced by a bold bitterness and splash of alcohol that lead to a dry finish.
