The oak and woodiness offered by the bourbon, without too much boozy heat, I think propels this version to the best of their Spooky Tooth offerings, toning down some of the spice while keeping the earthy pumpkin on the stage.

On-tap at Fat Head's Taphouse in Middleburg Hts., Ohio
Pours a burnt orange with a nice off-white head and leaves nice retention and lacing. The aromas are full of caramel malts along with some cinnamon and nutmeg. Some vanilla in the mix along with some ginger. The bourbon is definitely there, but allows everything else to shine. The flavors are great. The bourbon is very present, but blends well with everything else. Very nice oak/wood characteristics. The cinnamon is very prominent. The spices really shine well with the bourbon. More caramel and vanilla. It's not boozy at all and the alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is great. It's full-bodied but not heavy and has very active carbonation. Very smooth and dangerously drinkable.
This is a great brew. I haven't had a ton of barrel aged pumpkin ales, but this is definitely the best one I've ever had. The craftsmanship is very impressive. Awesome stuff.

The Spooky Tooth was a solid offering from Fat Heads. The beer poured a rich copper clear with no head and no lace. The scent definitely was bourbon. The taste also was dominated by bourbon but I did not pick up much pumpkin. This beer seemed very close to a barley wine. The mouthfeel was fuller in body with subtle carbonation. Overall it was good.

A surprisingly good BA offering from Fat Heads. I am not a fan of pumpkin beers so I was sceptical about this one but it actually works well. Who would have thought? Bourbon and pumpkin...very smooth and a great sipper. Recommended.

This beer plays games with your mind as to what a ba beer is. It pours an incredible glowing copper color. The aroma is a bit boozy with notes of allspice, nutmeg and cinnamon. Flavor is like a pumpkin pie with a Carmel vanilla sweet smoothness. You get some of the booziness but it doesn't overpower or leave a bad mouthfeel. Aftertaste is fall spices with a sweet smooth lingering taste. For the style this is one of the best beers I've ever had.

Enjoyed November 5, 2015 in a snifter at Bodega in Columbus, Ohio.
Look - Very light but musty orange for a BBA. Little head. Little lacing. Settles to a ring.
Smell - Pumpkin pie. Bourbon. Raisin. Licorice.
Taste - Follows nose. Not a lot of bourbon. It just mellows out the sweetness.
Feel - Smooth bourbon. Sits well. Does have an alcohol sting.
Overall - It is better than MadTree BBA pumpcan. It isn't better than MadTree RBA Pumpcan. Pumpkin pie.
