On tap at the PDX brewpub.
A: A clear amber with about a half finger off-white that didn't last.
S: Smokey, malty, caramel.
T: Comes through more like a squall than a hurricane. The smokiness is nice, as is the maltiness. Caramel and a bit of molasses, too.
M: Medium with medium, smokey carbonation.
O: Not bad. A decent rauchbier. Glad I tried it.

I think they called this a smoked doppelbock? A rauch-doppelbock? Didn't know how to categorize. From the PDX brewpub. Solid offering but lacking in complexity. The smoke was subtle and the strong doppelbock notes didn't really emerge. Drinkable but by going for the combination it came up as less than the sum of its parts.
