Served in a pint glass, this beer draws a clear, medium copper color with a slightly off-white head that's about 3/4 of an inch thick when first drawn and served. Head settles to a fairly thick ring surrounding the inside of the glass along with a nice film layer of surface foam and good lacing. Aromas of slightly smoked, sweet bready malts with some caramel followed by floral hop notes. A similar flavor profile here, with the taste of slightly to moderately smoked, bready malts with a nice hint of caramel sweetness that's followed by some floral hops that provides balance. I do feel the hop bitterness is just slightly too strong here overall and leaves more of a bitter aftertaste than is typical for most beers of this style and at least most than others of this style I have had. The bitterness finally dissipates a bit and the flavors balance out after the beer has had quite awhile to sit and warm up. But I stiff feel this is a flaw, as I should not have had to wait so long for this to occur. The flavors should have been better balanced from the start here. Has a crisp, also smooth medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish with a slightly sweet and smoked malt sweetness and floral hop bitter aftertaste that lingers nicely on my plate after each sip.
