Not sure this ABV but it was listed as 6.1%

A - Pours a nice jet black color. Love the two inches of mocha head as it was the first pint from the tap line.

S - Smells of light roast and chocolate. Nothing more.

T - Smooth and tasty found myself drinking the pint quickly, The majority of taste was chocolate without bitter coffee so like bakers chocolate.

M - Light to medium. Drinks rather well.

Overall damn I would have it again. I was going to get the pale ale but they tapped this one again. What a great trade off since I love stouts.

Pours a dark black color that you can't see through with a one finger off white khaki colored head which gives way to decent lacing. The aroma is of a roasted malt backbone with hints of coffee and chocolate as well as a slight floral hop smell. The taste is of a roasted malt backbone with a small hop kick with some coffee. The chocolate is not a present as you would think, it is a very mild taste. The mouthfeel is slightly creamy and mildly dry. The drinkability is good, it has enough going on to keep you interested without any offensive flavors or smells.

On tap @ Fat Heads Brewery & Saloon (North Olmstead, OH) on 4/25/10. Served in a pint glass.

Pours straight black, with about a ½ finger of creamy mocha colored head. This stays rich and frothy, leaving thick rings of heavy lace all around the sides of the glass. The aroma has a nice robustness going on with it, full of chocolate fudge notes of cocoa and sugary lactose. A heaping splash of vanilla adds a good bit of stickiness as well. Roasted malt character helps darkens things up considerably here in the nose, while earthy hops add some punch to the back of it.

The taste is bitter cocoa and vanilla with milky burnt sugars mixed in. Roasted malts put off a good bit of toasty bitterness, while earthy hops do their best to balance out the sweeter aspects of this. This finishes roasty and dry, with just a tinge of lingering sweetness leftover. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a big sharp creaminess that fills up the mouth. There is a touch of a chewy feel to it from the ABV and heavy sweetness but I must say that this drinks pretty good overall for the size.

Based on the flavors involved here, I was expecting a little more richness and pop to the taste but this was still overall fairly well balanced and drinkable. This was a good one to end my meal with.

Had one at the Ohio Fatheads

A- Almost black with a hint of brown, big tan head with a lot of lacing.

S- Strong chocolate and coffee with a slight hint of hops

T/M- Rich in chocolate and coffee very silky mouthfeel with a huge body

D- With a 5.0 AVB I had a couple oon cask in a sitting. Cask seems to bring out more flavors and body within the beer

Had at Fat Heads in Pittsburgh.

A: Pour a black color with an ever so slight hint of brown. Was crowded at the bar so wasn't able to hold up to the light. Big thick brown head with sufficient lacing.

S: Big amounts of chocolate and coffee flavors. Ordered it before I was finished with another beer, so as it warmed up a bit, the smells became more prevelant. A slight hop scent is also picked up but this was hidden as it warmed.

T: A well balanced beer. I thought the chocolate flavor would dominate based on the smell but it didn't. Coffee, chocolate and some herbal hops mix together. Very tasty.

M: A full bodied beer that leaves a slight creamy layer on the palate.

D: A low ABV makes having one or more in a sitting possible and the fact that it is balanced and not too sweet adds to its drinkability.

Appears a pitch black body especially with the dimmed lights at Fathead's. Huge billowing moccha tan head, that leaves nice even bands of lacing down the mini imperial pint glass it was poured into. These glasses were cool they had the bump two-thirds up the glass like a standard imperial pint but they were only 16 oz. Aroma has dark chocolate with fresh roasted coffee notes somewhat creamy with herbal hop background going on. Flavor was nicely balanced not overly sweet, more of a dark chocolate and coffee combo with hints of vanilla with all of the dark roasted malts used. Herbal hops once again show up, a nice sturdy stout that I will revisit. I think these offerings are going to do extremely well at the Fathead's location in the Burgh. Mouthfeel is medium to fuller bodied, with strong but not overdone carbonation flowing goes down very smooth even with a bigger body. Sessionable as far as drinkability goes, they had it listed at 4.8% abv but they're website says 5% either way a nice punch of flavor with moderate alcohol equals a happy session beer drinker.
