On tap at Fat Heads. Served in a pint glass for around $4.25.
This one was cursed right off the bat. The appearance was just unacceptable. A disgustingly cloudy beer that was sediment ridden. Seriously, I love the bartenders I've talked to there, but someone should have been embarrassed to serve this. The best way to describe this poor excuse for a beer is shit in a glass.
BTW, I sent it back and got another one that looked just the same, so I'm giving this all the benefit of the doubt. Matt and Mike are great brewers, but there needs to be some QC from the bar if this wasn't the intended look.
Back to the review - the nose is comprised of a mild nuttiness, chocolate, and roast. It's decently expressive albeit one dimensional.
The taste is way too one dimensional. There's some coffee, chocolate and yeast notes, but this is really over-roasted and doesn't have any sweetness to balance out the acrid burned notes. The finish is also more bitter than I would have thought.
The mouthfeel is average in terms of weight with decent carbonation. Neither good nor bad, so we'll pick a 3. Same for the overall score. Worst Fat Heads beer I've had, and I really wanted to like this one. Add some depth and fix the sediment issues.

Pours a murky brown color, with a tan head. In the aroma, roasty caramel and chocolate. In the taste, roasty coffee and sweet caramel. A small bite and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry coffee in the aftertaste. A sweeter porter, and the caramel stands out nicely.

On tap at Fat Heads in Cleveland.
Poured a very dark brown color with a light tan head and a slight bit of lacing. The nose brought loads and loads of roasted malt with a bit of coffee and some dark chocolate. The taste was just way over-roasted. I couldn't really pick anything out other than roasted-malt overkill. This really affected the brew as I couldn't get past this. The mouthfeel was hit by the same problem. Medium body with a very dry, roasty finish. Not terribly impressed by this one.

Had on nitro tap last night at Fat Heads in Pittsburgh.
A-dark brown almost black in color. the head is off white, thick and creamy. the nitro causes the head to sit and never move; but as i drink little lacing is left.
S-the nose is light and brings roasted malt, hints of dark chocolate and some coffee.
T/M-extremely smooth with a medium to light body. the flavors are lighter with some dark chocolate, roasted malts, and just a touch of coffee. the finish has a hint of citrus and some bitterness.
D-this is a better version of a guiness. not big flavors but extremely smooth and easily drinkin.

Review from notes taken last night. Poured from nitro tap into a clean, clear pint glass at a cost of $4.25.
A Super creamy light brown head over a very dark brown body that let no light through although the light at Fat Head's was not significant. Curtain lacing left on the inside of the glass after repeated sips is awesome. 4.5
S Dark roast malt with some sweetness. The smell is distant like many porters that I have had. I like the minimal sweetness in this one. 4.0
T Medium to dark roast malt with an unwelcome bitterness that I did not like very much. The source could be the overly roasted malt or it could have been some misplaced hops but whatever the source is it comes off too bitter for my taste. I did not pick up the sweetness that I smelled which was a minor dissapointment. 2.5
M Very creamy and smooth but I think that this was attributable to the nitro presentation of the beer and the ultra creamy head. The body of the beer itself is a bit thin but that is not unlike many other porters that I have had. 4.0
D Fair to good. It would have been very good but that bitterness drove down the drinkability for me. 3.5
