Sommer Pils has a light golden body that is completely translucent, and a small, creamy-looking white head. The head has fairly good retention, and it eventually settles down into islands. It also leaves thin strands of lacing.
The aroma has a very clean pale malt aroma with some herbal hops to balance it out.
Some slightly spicy and rather herbal tasting hops lead off, followed by pale malts that add a biscuity flavor and a bit of sweetness. The finish has more hops, which add mostly bitterness and make Sommer Pils fairly dry.
The carbonation is moderate, but the mouthfeel is very light.
Sommer Pils is a simple, balanced pilsner. With every sip, I change my mind regarding whether the malt or hops are the stronger flavor, which I liked. Very drinkable; another well-brewed beer from Fat Head's Brewery.
