Really enjoyed this limited brew from Fat Heads. They definitely have their IPAs down.

Appearance: Darker than other IPAs that I've experienced. Decent head (16 oz can - plenty to pour)

Smell: Grapefruit and cat pee - good start. Something almost candylike in the aroma - could've been the environment too.

Taste: Similar to Head Hunter but definitely not the same. A bit sweeter perhaps and the nice bitterness sticks around. Definitely a hophead delight.

Fatheads Hop Stalker

Appearance: Pours a dark copper color, frothy white head and spiderweb like lacework

Smell: Cat pee, herbs, citrus and some caramel malt sweetness.

Taste: Mild but assertive hop bitterness with some grapefruit and pine notes. Lots of caramel and roasted, toasted malts taking over. Muted tropical fruit, sweet malts, and piney hop. A bit sticky.

Feel: Full bodied and smooth, well carbonated, mildly hoppy.

Overall: Another solid ipa from fatheads. This one is kind of mild but still pretty nice.

Review from notes. Poured from tap into a clean, clear glass at the brewery in North Olmsted, Ohio.

A Translucent yellow brown body under a minimal head. 3.0

S Unbalanced hops bitterness. Rather typical of the style but not as balanced as the much better Fat Head's Head Hunter which features a much more prominent sweet malt presence. 3.0

T Unbalanced hops bitterness persists into the taste although I do appreciate a touch more sweet malt that I thought that I might based on the smell. Overall it is too unbalanced for my taste. That being said, it is probably right on for the style. 3.0

M Harsh feel of bitterness without much else to comment on. Right on target for the style though. 3.0

D/O Hop heads would really like this but its unbalanced presentation leaves me cold. 2.5

On tap at the brewery. Same name, but citra hop and 7.8% and 87 ibu. So perhaps now a stalker series. Cat pee aroma and flavour from the heavy citra, and not my style. Still passable for what it is. Served with good carbonation and at right temperature. Not very drinkable. Fresh and lacey.

Had this on 2011-02-26 in Columbia, PA (from tasting notes)

A - Slight haze, lots of bubbles, short white head.

S - Dark fruit, hop bud floral.

T - Papaya, mango, sweet roasted malt, black pepper. Aftertaste dries out to a nice level of astringent bitterness.

M - Light-medium body and high carbonation. Very effervscent.

O - Not as much grapefruit bitterness as their Head Hunter but as it warmed, there was increasing hop bud flavor and fragrance. I'd rather have the Head Hunter.

On tap at Fat Heads Pgh.

A: Pours a hazy yellowish orange color with a thick white foam head. Ample lacing down the whole glass.

S: Lots of orange, pineapple, grapefruit and lemon hop character. No real noticeable malt.

T: Just like the scent. Lots of big hop bitterness. All citrus flavor hops. Just a small malt backbone comes through at the end, mostly bread and biscuit.

M: Nice medium body that leaves a bitter taste on the palate.

D: This is a really nice IPA, with ample hop character. Would certainly enjoy more of these!

Pours a hazy orange-ish to yellow color with an off white head. In the aroma, orange and grapefruit citrus hops. In the taste, citrus to pine like hops. A hop bite and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a dry pine hop aftertaste. Nice hops, a bit watery, but noce and easy to drink.

A - Pours a pale orange color, mild to no carbonation, and a thin, white layer barely resting on the top. (came from a pitcher since they were having issues with the tap this particular night)

S - The smell is absolutely amazing - fresh squeezed citrus - pineapple, oranges, and grapefruit...like it was just squeezed from the vine. Has some spicey/garlic/herbal quality to the malt which sits strong in the foreground along with the citrus aroma.

T - The taste doesn't match the incredible aroma. Spicey malt hits the tongue immediately and stays present all the way until the end. A moment into the sip the citrus and pine hops come in a wave and ride it all the way and finally beats the spicey malt into submission for a bitter, dry, red grapefruit finish. The palette is left with remnants of bone dry citrus that lingers for a few minutes afterwards.

M - Thin, medium body. Lacks in this department.

D - Very good.

Another really good house brew from the folks at Fat Head's.

On tap- > pint

Arrived a clear light orange with golden highlights. A small wispy head settles to only a ring of lace that deposits sporadic clumps of lace. Carbonation is steady and abundant.

Nose: piney. Spicy very hop pellet smelling. Floral notes

Thin crisp body. This is a hop bomb no doubt about that. Light pale malt base hold things together. THE simcoes kick in early and give lots of pine and hop pellet.lime herbaal flavors. Some tobacco leaf and citrus rind float along. Bitterness is sharp and drying. Bitterness lngers and begs for another slip. The grassy herbalness on the finish lingers alongside the bitterness.

A hop lovers delight.
