Pours golden copper and clear. White Rocky head. Laces the glass nicely. Head persists longer than usual and becomes pillowy. Carbonation bubbles are pretty mellow.
Smells of fresh tropical hops like pineapple with some pine. Some caramel sweetness.
Taste is smooth and very creamy texture. The hop flavor becomes particularly piney. I assume it is dry hopped as you get a bit of a vegetal texture in the finish. Nice bitterness lingers after the sip. Malt sweetness is there but the fresh hops flavor is the star of this show.
Been a while since I had brewed with Simcoe or had a Simcoe only beer, so without looking it up, I kind of forgot about how it tastes. This is really fantastic and Simcoe may need to get more of a spotlight as a primary hop rather than complimentary.
Another excellent beer from Fathead. This came in a variety pack of 12 and I was lucky to find a fresh package date!

Clear amber-gold with a moderately spongy head of off-white foam.
Personally I'm not finding it particularly musty or dank like I'd typically get out of simcoe, it actually seems a little more spicy and cologne-forward than the Tropical.
Either way, as you'd expect from any iteration of Head Hunter, it's still amazingly cleansing yet assertive in the finish.

Pours an effervescent gold with two fingers of rocky pearl colored head. Sheets of lacing stellar tight head retention
S: Plenty of pineapple, mango & citrus notes, a little pineapple later, along with some passion fruit
T: Follows the nose, some dryness, pink grapefruit & a little dryness up front. Pineapple, mangoes & pomelo dominate as this beer warms up, some dryness, a little bit of green melon. Finishes with some grassy notes, mango, papaya & pomelo. Pine very late
MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, nice balance
Superb take on the style, super drinkability

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 11/12/2024. Pours slightly hazy golden amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with amazing retention. Lasting 1 finger cap, soapy lacing, and moderate streaming carbonation. Perfect appearance. Huge nose of red grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, mango, blueberry, passion fruit, wood, citrus rind, pine resin, bread, herbal, floral, grass. Super vibrant nose. Taste of huge red grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, mango, blueberry, passion fruit, wood, peppercorn, citrus rind, pine resin, bread, herbal, floral, grass. Large sized pine, citrus rind, herbal, woody bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body, balanced bready/grainy malt and sticky/resinous hop mouthfeel. Fairly crisp on resins, with lingering hop oil drying. Mild lingering hop astringency. but super smooth. Minimal warming 7.5%. One of the best single hop IPAs I've had. I am a sucker for Mosaic in the base beer, but this is the perfect showcase of Simcoe. Everything is near perfect on a west coast style IPA. Super vibrant balance of juicy and dank hops, with it being a bit stronger on dankness!

Two 12 FL. OZ. cans
Served in a becker glass
This beer pours amber in color and has a haze to it. It is topped with a couple inches of tan head that leaves decent lacing.
Citrus and dank aromas
Citrus and dank flavor. Some resin
Medium bodied with a slick mouthfeel
I love Fat Head's

I'm still a Fat Head's fan. We used to go to one of their pubs a lot (my retirement party was at their North Olmsted restaurant). Lately I still try to stop off I71 and get some freshies from the big plant. This sample came from my high end brew dealer, and at half the usual prices - Fat Head's is always a great value.
It pours deep golden translucent with consistent fizz. The aroma is a deep hop smell - nothing grassy. The more you smell it, the better it smells (I upped all my ratings due to that smell). The taste is superb and it goes down very easily. This really is one of my favorites from Fat Head's.
Highly recommended. I have to get more and drink it fresh! Remember: for $5, you get two cans!
