Filled at the brewpub on 1-Sep-11.
A: The stout is dark, a pitch black wonder that is opaque. An off-white, more tan, head seems darker on initial pour. Each head starts out darker and gradually lightens.
S: The nose is nutty. In hindsight, nutella has much more of a chocolatey aroma. This features nuttiness only, the chocolate relegated to second fiddle. Even the stout body can't make a dent in the hazelnut.
T: Nuttiness and chocolate, in alternating waves, define the beer. The stout is generally absent, save for the boozy strength and chocolate flavors. That chocolate gradually emerges even though it was silent in the nose. A wickedly good stout that has a dry nutty finish.
M: The mouthfeel is nut-centric, a dry but chewy body that covers up most of the stout base. That base, which gradually emerges, is boozy and dark. I'm a fan.
