I had this beer on-tap at the brewery in a pilsner glass. This iteration was 6.6% ABV.
Appearance: medium brown hue with a dash of haze and a finger of tan foam. Nice!
Smell: rich. sweet, and malty. I'm not even sure what else a bock is supposed to be.
Taste: very malty with an earthy hop character. There's just a little sharpness here, which makes it feel not super clean, but it's otherwise good.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: a perfectly cromulent bock. It's not bad at all, but there's just a hint of off-flavor here that holds it back for me.

a unique take on the style here, like im not sure i can tell if its actually a lager or not. the malt profile seems right, and there is some booze and some sweetness, like the build overall is correct, but this almost has more of a german ale ester than a lagered profile, but im not sure how this is made and didnt ask questions when i was in. its a decent brew either way, wintery and sturdy, with brown sugar and maple notes from the malt, a long boiled richness to it as well, some minerals and even light metallics, pretty clean as they go, but its not crisp and doesnt have the finish i want in the style, it seems almost hefeweizen-esque in terms of the fermentation profile, a little bready too i guess, but not what i usually look for in a bock. a light savory or umami character to it as well, lots of body, decent carbonation, and some finishing alcohol warmth, definitely have a ride home if you plan on a few pints of this one. a weird yeast thing going on, but not unflattering, so thus a little different as the style goes, but a pretty tasty beer overall.
