Draft pour in 1 liter mug was root beer brown with 3 finger off-white creamy head. Heavenly caramel and malt aroma. Mild taste of bread, caramel and malt. Very light hop taste on the tail end. Moderate to light body and carbonation. This is a very balanced brew to quaff a few. But alas , , , there is the German food I had to make room for.

Draft offering at the Pittsburgh location served in a large dimpled mug. The brew appears a amber color with a rich off-white cap that fades slowly leaving patchy lace-work on the glass.

The aroma contains plenty of bready malt and some sweetness with fruity and floral hops/alcohol. As more whiffs are taken, some of that bready maltiness transforms to more toffee and molasses character.

The taste includes plenty of molasses-like dark malt flavoring with a fresh bready grain appeal that blends to something more like toffee and caramel with more sips. There is an herbal hop aspect before blending to a soft fruity alcohol aapect towards the finish.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. Overall an exceptionally drinking brew and probably the best example of a dunkel I have had in recent memory. I wouldnt mind having this again sometime soon.

Pours a dark brown color. Lots of off white head and plenty of lace. Aroma of roasted malt and a bit of chocolate. In the taste, roasted malt and some cocoa. Light herbal hopping, even bitterness with a slightly roasted finish. Medium bodied, but full and smooth. Overall this is a great brew.
