This is the December seasonal at Hofbräuhaus Pittsburgh. I put it under Vienna Lager as a guess, if that isn't correct it is pretty close, it tastes like a Vienna lager.

Here is the description from the Hofbräuhaus Pittsburgh website:

"A flavorful amber lager with a rich amount of hops in finish. A little fuller with more malty character than our Hofbräu Lager."

I had this served in a Hofbräu liter mug, on-tap.

The Hofbräu Christmasbeer has a deep and rich red body that gets closer and closer to being brown at the center. Like most Hofbräu beers, the head is large, creamy, and is an off-white color.

The aroma has a bunch of sweet malt and a bit of toasted malt. None of the "rich amount" of hops from the description show up in the aroma.

Once again, the "rich amount" of hops don't show up in the flavor. There is a touch of noble hops in it, but the finish is not especially hoppy, and no point has a strong bite to it. There is a good bit of malt that is sweet and lightly toasted. Overall, this is not a very flavorful beer.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with carbonation on the lower side.

Fairly good drinkability, but overall I would say this beer is somewhat boring. I prefer the regular line-up to this one.
