Ca l'Arenys "Magnum Squad Quadrupel Brett"
on tap at BierCaB, Barcelona, Spain on 26 November 2015
25 cl Teku glass for 4.50€
Notes: In collaboration with Cervezas Yria from Ocaña, ES. Dark mahogany body with a ruby cast beneath a pillowy dark tan head that holds fairly well before falling to become denser and creamier, and which leaves nice big spotty lace behind. The aroma expresses the skins of dark skinned fruit, fruit pulp, cured leather, and port wine. The flavor follows the aroma, smooth and malty with body but little indication of graininess, but sugar instead. Notes of dark cherry round it out along with a light touch of tartness. Full bodied with a very-fine bubbled gently effervescent carbonation that gives a light bristle and then warms to become airy and then creamy across the palate. Amazingly at 12% ABV, the alcohol never really shows itself, although it's there in the background behind the Quad body and sweetness, helping to balance it in the finish. Really quite interesting, I'm not sure I've ever had a quadrupel that's been done with Brettanomyces. Highly recommended.

red in color with a scant white creamy head of slight retention and minimal lacing. Nose wafts maraschino cherries, and some sugar, and more cherries. Taste is similar. Like a cross between cherry liquor and cherry cough syrup, with a mildly sticky and yet smooth, full bodied feel.
