I really like Czech beers and rate them higher than do the other reviewers on this site. It seems they are graded overall lower than IPA's but this style is very drinkable and pleasing.

Thanks to kubrick215 for bringing this back from the Czech Republic and sharing with me.

Pours a hazy, bright golden yellowish-orange color with golden straw edges and a 1.5 finger frothy white head. Good retention, slowly fading into a lasting ring. Streaks of soapy lacing left behind.

Floral, perfume like aroma with earthy, grassy hops, straw, hay, light fruit and pale biscuit malt.

Medium bodied with a delicate crisp hop bite that provides some dry bitterness that lingers over the sweet notes and pale malt into a subtly dry finish. Really nice hop flavor with a subtle dry, earthy character that doesn't overpower the rest of the beer. This is countered by hints of straw, hay, apple, pear, pilsner malt, bread and biscuit. Really well balanced and very refreshing. Nice beer!

Bought in Prague a year ago but just now getting around to drinking it.

When opened, it fizzed over quite a bit for at least a minute. It had been sitting in my fridge for months, but somehow it was pretty active.

Golden straw color and just about opaque. Thick head settled quickly but a bit of it remained it throughout. Lots of carbonation.

Smells citrusy and grainy, the latter being more prevalent. Has that pilsner taste — spicy, bitter — as well as the citrus I got in the nose.

Bubbly and active in the mouth and a bit thicker than other pilsners.

I rarely drink pilsner, but I'd add this to my regular lineup if it were more accessible. Maybe it's the hot weather of late, but this was a tasteful, refreshing beer.

A: The color of the beer is clear and gold - classical for czech pilsener.
S: Smells kind of like sugar or sweet malt.
T: Malty taste mixed with bitterness. The bitterness in the medium is kind of mixed with herbs and stays also at the finish mixed with the taste of hops.
M: Medium and also medium carbonation.
D: This bear is slightly more bitter then other pilseners, but also full, so it is not that easy to drink and not that light as others, but it is tasty.

Sugar is added to the process of brewing.

A: The beer is crystal clear golden yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a two finger high white head that has good retention properties; a thin layer of bubbles consistently covered the surface.
S: There are aromas of bready and grainy malts in the nose.
T: The taste is very malty and is accompanied by a mild amount of hop bitterness, which particularly stands out in the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and slightly thicker compared to other beers in the style. There is a light to moderate amount of carbonation.
D: The beer is very easy to drink and the bitterness in the finish leaves you wanting to take another sip.

Bright blond color, with lively carbonation. An abundant white foam.
A base maltiness in the smell, and a not too fresh hop. It is a pils anyway, the hop is here.
In the taste, the same note, classic pils.
Not too convincing, maybe for the freshness of the bottle.
Light body.
Anyway, nohing too interesting.

Another great Czech beer purchased at Pivni Gallerie in Prague.

Interesting label, young boy with a MASSIVE cod piece pouring beer from a pitcher.

Beer pours straw yellow with a barely red head. Head dissapeared down to nothing leaving little lacing. Points off for the poor head.

Smell is mostly malty.

Flavor is fantastic. Malts are subdued, acting as an undercurrent to the fabulous hops. Hops are spicy and bitter, with some fruit flavors to balance it out. Apple, pear, orange and grapefruit all mix together well. Finish is clean and spicy. Some small mineral flavors in the beer from the
water.

Feels nicely on the mouth, mostly carbonated but it's not biting like some czech lagers.

Great beer, no doubt.
