On tap at the brewery taproom.
A clear but very dark reddish-brown body is opaque with nice highlights at the edges. Excellent if small head.
The aroma is moderately complex and both darker roasted malts and hops come out in nearly equal balance.
Flavor: Moderate bitterness seems a touch lower than average for style. Some very dark roasted malt flavors with a bit of smoke in the lingering aftertaste. Rather minimal impact of the barrel aging in terms of whisky flavoring, but this is nicely smooth and integrated.
O: One of the minority of black IPAs which meld more than fight in my mouth.
