Quite the Pfft when the top was popped. Jet black on the pour.
No discernable colors at the edges. Darkest beer I've seen. Thick, creamy rocky dark beige head. Seems like a bit too much carbonation for the style. Heavy roasted malts on the nose with cocoa, coffee, some charred red fruit and nuts.
Sweet roasted malt, creamy chocolate and a nuttiness
on the palate. Plums, alcohol, smoke and a nice hop bitterness on the finish.
This had a decent creamy mouthfeel but I would have rather had more viscosity and less carbonation. Good drinkability for the style.
