On cask at Volo. First night it was kind of awful, second night it was great. The beauty of cask ale.
Pours a hazy light gold/yellow, a little darker than straw, thin white head forms, quickly drops to a thin collar and big bubble layer, some lace spots. Smell is sweet and malty, some honey, apricots, straw and grass, wheat, very fruity, light biscuit, touch of banana, pretty neat. Taste is similar, toasty malt, some honey sweetness, grass, lightly herbal and floral, some tropical fruits, yeast and wheat, light bitterness. Mouthfeel is light bodied, a touch thin with low carbonation. Was very dry and astringent, almost potato starchy on the first night but really opened up the next day and was quite enjoyable.

On cask at Volo. A whitish colour, no head, yes low carbonation. Floaties. This was at the end of the cask, and from what I understand was more interesting than the begiining. A bit sour, 2/2 on Mr. MacLean's own ales, but I will be open-minded going forward. Understated pale ale hops. Below average mouthfeel, lumpy-unfiltered?

A: Hazy straw with a bubbly head.
S: Lemon grass, herbs & a hint of biscuity malt. The hop profile is quite different... I wonder what they are?
T: Biscuity grain, herbal & grassy hops.
M: Light body is very smooth. I'd like a little more carbonation that what the cask had though.
D: I could see this a session ale.

Hazy yellow pour with a tight white head and some patches of lace. Herbal aroma, with hints of lemongrass. Very clean flavour, with lemon, herbs, grass and green leaves. It tastes fresh and thirst-quenching, and would be a great summer option in my eyes. Fairly light bodied, but I think well matched to the type of flavours going on. I liked it... reminded me of a lot of cask beers I'd find back in England.
