A - Black body with a thick, tan head about a half inch tall.

S - Smokey coffee aromas are prevalent.

T - The flavor has a light roasty, taste along with a chocolate and coffee edge. The strongest characteristic here is the smokiness. Its interesting to have a stout with such a strong smokey flavor.

M - Smooth, soft and slightly chewy.

~ I would certainly have this beer again and I wish I had access to it everyday. Unfortunately, Milwaukee is over two hours away.

A: not incredibly dark, somewhat surprisingly lighter than what I expected
S: expected rich but thin, although hints of a stout poke through
T: thin, weak, not roasted enough, a bit of astringency noted, below average
M: not your typical stout, disappointing
D: thin and weak

on tap at the brewpub in St. Francis. pours pitch black with one and a half fingers of tight, creamy, thick head. looks wonderful in the glass.

aroma is of rich roasted malts and hazelnut with notes of vanilla and chocolate that blend in with the hazelnut. very hearty in the nose with just the right amount of richness.

taste is thin and not nearly as hearty as the aroma would suggest. roasted malts and a bit of coffee dominate the profile with some vanilla as well. not at all like the aroma, but true to a good Irish Dry Stout.

mouthfeel is medium to light bodied with a dry character and a hollow texture. the brew is too thin on the palate to stand up to the hearty aroma.

drinkability is excellent. light and dry on the palate with a very tasty aroma and a thin and dry mouthfeel. true to a great Irish Stout. the problem here is that there is too big of a dichotomy between the aroma and the taste profiles. Irish Stouts should be thin in body, but usually the aroma follows suit. interesting, but in the end leaves something to be desired.

Served on tap in a pint glass at the brewpub. Pours a midnight black body with a light tan head that left a good amount of lacing. Aroma was of dark roasted malts and had a sweetness to it. This was a medium bodied beer with a thin mouthfeel. It was smooth, but this was due to very low carbonation. There were some subtle malt flavors and no detectable hop bitterness in the finish. Overall, this is easy to drink, but it is really lacking in the flavor department and is just too watery for a stout.
