Had at Black Raven during NW Beer Safari. Was enjoying a good "cross the board taster", but noticed the guys on each side of me were both having the special version Coco Jones.
Offered a taste, when the aroma just exploded off the glass.
This was a truly unique awesome aroma that I had never come across before. Forget the tasting...pour me a a pint! Just wonderful.
Overall, a very nice cask pour with very good appearance. Again, aroma was outstanding. A great synergy of dark roasted malts you'd expect with porter...woven with vanilla, sweet nutty pecans and hints of chocolate and NW hops.
Taste was bit muted. Great, but not as pushy as the aroma.
Mouth feel was cask smooth that allowed the flavors and scents to just roll in the mouth and move around the tongue and throat.
Every once in a awhile you come across a modified experimental beer that really grabs you. But this brew further enhanced by serving on cask was a real treat...and really showed the talent going on at Black Raven.
