The base was brewed back in 2012 and soured using one of our two house sour strains, “Angelica”, which we grew up from wild bacteria and yeasts native to the Skagit valley. Copious amounts of local, seasonal and farm direct raspberries were harmed year after year in the making of this beer.

Bottle at share. Murky, muddy amber pour. Aroma is sweet, fruity and tart, raspberries. Taste is a punch in the throat. Super puckering. Fruity and sour.

500ml bottle of the 2018 vintage poured into a tulip at 52°F.
L: Pours a very brownish red with a head that dissipates almost instantly.
S: Raspberry, leather, bit of vinegar.
T: Decent raspberry flavor buried under a lot of acidity. Some vinegar. Not getting much yeast flavor.
F: Medium-light body and low carbonation. Really coats the mouth but is a bit sticky.
O: The acidity overpowers the rest of this beer. If you can handle high acidity, there is some decent raspberry flavor underneath but the lack of balance prevents this from being more enjoyable.

A: Raspberries, wood, leather, with a touch of vinegar.
A: Amber color, lightly hazy with a thin ring of head that recedes and becomes nonexistent.
T: Moderate jammy raspberry flavor, followed by red wine, and wood. The beer has quite a vinous character.
M: Medium-light bodied with light carbonation. The beer is fairly tannic with huge red wine acidity.
O: The beer is complex and interesting. However, because the beer has so much acidity, it drinks more like a Flemish Red, than a Framboise. Moreover, said huge acidity is a bit too overpowering in the mouth-feel.
