@ 6 dollars a 22oz bottle, not really worth it. Although probably one of the better Black Raven offerings I've had in a while and I work across the street from the brewery.

For the price I hoped for a lot more. Not nearly as good as Sierra Nevada Torpedo at half the price.
This is a very good and drinkable beer, but it makes no sense for me to buy it again with less expensive and superior options.

Handsome appearance with clear dark amber brew topped with sticky whipped cream head in the tall Belle-Vue glass. Plenty of froth and prickles in the mouthfeel. LIght body. It's a nice blend of hops that do convey some guava and passionfruit taste. Aroma is ripe papaya and citrus.
There is something lemony as you sip. Moderate acidity and just a little malty sweetness to start. This is a robust IPA with plenty of bitterness. It's just accompanied by more aromatics and a pleasant fruit salad. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Central Market in Shoreline.

22oz bottle dated 03/27/18. Beer pours brilliant golden in color, crystal clear, with moderate head formation. Very fruity tropical aroma is apparent immediately. Flavor has some of the same flavors, but has an extremely sharp alpha bitterness which cuts to the back of my jaw. This is very much a west coast IPA or DIPA in that sense. Ironically, quoting from the brewer's website: "This beer is brewed with slightly less bitterness than normal". Huh. Well, I'm getting all the bitterness in the flavor, and nearly all of the tropical fruit in the aroma. Not my favorite.
