The SR-71 “Blackbird” has a wingspan of 55.6’ and 107.4’ in overall length the mighty beast could make it from LA to DC in approximately one hour holding only passengers. If that’s not cool, then nothing is.
What better namesake for this bicoastal collaboration? Blackbird is a hazy IPA brewed with Nugget, El Dorado, Estate Comet, and Strata hops. Big stone fruit aromas with a soft yet crisp mouthfeel and a mild hop bite.

Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 5/23/24.
Appearance: medium golden-yello whue with a pretty fair dose of haze and a thick finger of frothy eggshell foam.
Smell: lightly sweet and juicy tropical fruit hop character. There’s a little bit of sharpness that I’m interpreting as bitter orange peel or something; that, I could do without, but in general it’s a pretty good-smelling hazy.
Taste: moderately sweet malt with a bit of passionfruit character; it’s tropical, but not as juicy as the aroma. The sharpness from that citrus peel is also still here; low in the mix, but still kind of impacts this beer’s flavor poorly (to my palate, anyway).
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: not a bad beer in general, but there’s a flavor element or two that I could do without.
