Went here for a Terrapin brunch. Beer was great. Service was very slow with people arriving after us getting their order taken before we got drinks. Food was a mixed bad. Everything looked great but several plates at our table were served cold. Server was friendly but seemed lost today. Hopefully she was just having a bad day buy their poor service was something that I had wqrnd about when I mentioned going there earlier in the week.

I went down after work one night, trying to get a taste of Bourbon County Brand Stout...sadly it kicked at 7:30 and it was around 8:30. They said their sixtel only lasted a half hour, but I spoke with Matt Hough about the awesome draft selection he had on, 73 taps some of these include the beers brewed next door at the Brew on Premise called the Copper Kettle Brewery. Two levels three sections extensive seating and bottle selection, this place is right off the Squirrel Hill exit, but you stay right toward Greenfield I had no clue it was back there.

I'm glad I found it Matt seemed like an awesome guy up on the beer selection he has some rare stuff hidden away down in the cellar he was drinking some well aged Nebraska brewing beer aged on Chardonnay barrels. I had one draft of Mongo DIPA a pint for 7 bucks completely reasonable bar pricing. Crowlers seemed expensive but they are the only players in the game canning any draft in 32 ounce portions to go. I went to the lower bar to check out the Lost Abbey tap handle selection and really wasn't offered any more beer for about 10-15 minutes. Big burly dude with a beard, who had seen me in rare form at a Sports bar in Squirrel Hill a few nights prior (maybe he was trying to protect me).

Either way overall a pleasant experience I hope to go back try the food and drink some of the Copper Kettle offerings...possibly brew a batch here at some point. The website is pretty up to date on their taps, and Matt said to like them on Facebook and follow their Twitter feed for the next special release or events they may have in the future.

I went there with a group of about 15 people to celebrate 1 year to my wedding. Me being the resident beer guy and future groom got his way.

The place is nice, well lit, clean, and open. The 2 bar set up is great as well for quicker service. It was pretty packed so the waitstaff had to hustle but it was no fault of their own. The girl we had was knowledgeable enough to be able to make suggestions and give out accurate answers to questions.

The really great thing about this place is the selection. They recently added more taps so they are up to 71 beers on draft. Just some highlights of the ones I tried were Flower Power, Weihenstephaner Hefe, Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti, Rogue Yellow Snow, Ommegang Hennepin, Great Lakes Commodore Perry, etc. 4 oz testers are $2-3 per. Growler fills are 20-30 per but $5 off on Mondays. They also have an extensive bottle section (200+) and a short list of "rare" beers (bombers).

I had a good 10 testers plus some food and she had a few vodka and sodas and our bill was like $35. It's only 15 minutes from us and well worth coming back.

Well, I like this place, even though it has a big sports bar theme. The "main" bar, as there is a second to the side, is a large rectangle in the middle of the room with seats surrounding and coolers at the end. There is a ton of beer to try here. Tons and tons. Everything seemed appropriately served when I visited. The crowd wasn't exactly my scene, but I am okay with that.

Hough's is a great spot for a great selection, good food, and a fun time. They have tons of events that keep you coming back again and again. My only complaint is that sometimes service can be a little slow, although this can be understandable since the place is full nearly every night of the week. Can't wait for Christmas in July.

My wife and I grabbed a seat at the bar and the service from the bartenders was decent enough. We took some time to go through the beer list and select our beers. I ordered an IPA that I never had before, and it was served EXTREMELY cloudy, a little funky tasting, and questionably warm. However, since I never had the beer before, I just chalked it up to a beer that I didn't like. My wife ordered a Breckenridge Avalanche - one of her personal favorites and one we've both enjoyed numerous times. The beer was served with no head and looking generally lifeless. Needless to say, it was flat (and warm).

We asked the bartender if she could get something different, because the beer was flat. She went to get the "manager" (the owners mom). The "manager" came over and immediately told us, "I had our brewmaster taste this, he said it's fine". My wife explained that it was flat and that she wanted a different beer, to which the "manager" replied, "you can be honest, do you just not like it? or are you sick or something?" I started to explain that we had both had the beer before, and that it was nothing like the Avalanche we've had in the past. Before I was able to finish, the "manager" cut me off and said, "Why are you defending her? I asked her a question, not you!" At this point, I asked for our check so we could be on our way. We didn't order food as we had intended, but the menu looks pretty typical anyway.

The beer selection may be great, and the normal managers may be better to deal with, but I can't suggest this place based on our experience. Terribly customer service, questionable beer serving methods, and just lacking any appeal.

Randomly went to this bar to check out the KopperKettle Brewery (Brew Your Own Beer). We were pleasantly surprised. Its close to the South Side

Atmosphere: really beautiful and spacey inside. right next to a Brew Your Own Beer place which was awesome. great patrons. very comfortable feeling inside. nice woodwork.

Quality/Selection: amazing. the bottle list and tap list were just what dreams are made of. I found beers here that I didn't know existed. Over 60 taps and I wasn't even able to make it through the entire bottle list.

Service: really great and wholesome people. very knowledgeable. I really want to go here again.

I counted 61 on draft, most of them quality craft selections. The main room has a u-shaped bar plus some tables. There are some newly renovated windows and a spot for a band. But I prefer to go past that room and a few steps down to find the secondary bar that hosts a wall of taps. There are some dining tables there as well.

Most beers are under $6 and there are some specials throughout the week, including Mondays when all drafts get complimentary upgrades to 20oz. Everything seemed to be served in the appropriate glassware, and they have little 3-4oz tasters available, which is a great option if you're the driver. A lot of standards from Southern Tier, Founders, Great Lakes; but also some less common offerings like Dogfish Black & Red or Great Divide Rumble.

It's a great neighborhood bar in a neighborhood that doesn't have much else going for it, from what I saw. I didn't try the food but the menu looked sufficient for this to be a great place to watch a game. The brew-on-premise room looks to be almost ready to open.

The outside of the place looks rather normal. It could probably use a little renovation. The inside however looks quite good. They did a nice job making the place comfortable inside. It is open but does not have that cavernous feel. The seats are comfortable and the tables are solid. There is a large screen at the one end of the bar where various sports channels are projected.

The bartenders seem to be relatively knowledgeable and friendly. You do not wait long when at the bar and they can offer suggestions. I have only been there on Fridays and sometimes they seem to be a little under staffed on wait staff side. The waitress hustle and are constantly buzzing around, but service seems a little slow. I do not account that to the staff, but to the need of one, if not two, additional staff during peak times. Even though they are very busy, the wait staff is still always friendly and always keeps everyone's orders straight.

The food is good but nothing too special. I would not go there for just the food. The beer selection is quite good. I did not count but I would guess there are well over 100 domestic micros and 25 high end imports. The great thing on the beer selection is the price. These craft brews are prices at a level comparable to some other local bar's generic domestic brews. For the combination of selection and price, this is the place to go. Other places might have more selection, but you really pay for it.

Hough's could EASILY become your go-to place.
