If your tears turned to amber, like the daughters of the sun god Helios, you wouldn’t need this full-bodied ale. Since they don’t, we’ve put together a blend of Caramel and Carastan Malts dripping with notes of caramel and toffee. Dry your eyes and drink up!

Very nice Amber color with small lasting white cap.

Aroma of sweet roasted caramel malt and spicy hops.

Taste on entry is caramel and roasted malt with a touch more roasted bitterness that needed. Hops are spicy and sufficient for balance without being too sharp.

Overall it's a good example of an American Amber Ale with a bit more roast malt bitterness than I like.

Had Heliades' Tears poured from 12-oz. can, bottom stamped "BEST BY MAY 2023" and (apparently) canned on "220516," into willi becher.

Pours deep amber with (apparent) clarity and 1-finger light beige head, with good retention, dragging a little nice lace down the glass. Aroma of funk and mild caramel malt off pour, and then big sweet malt joins the caramel, with some herbal and floral hop aromas showing as warms. A little fruity hop flavor to start, then mild caramel and sweet malts take over, and some nice spicy hop bite eventually arrives to balance things out, before a malty but somewhat dry finish.

As pretty an amber beer as I've seen, with a nice bit of spicy hop bite to balance the big malt sweetness, and a cleaner than expected finish. Purchased to accompany grilled meats, I think it would be better with bready desserts.
