Pours a big tan head, which hangs around. Spongy at the top, large bubbles at the bottom. Dense and dark.
Sweet aromas of roasted malts, coupled with an interesting berry fruits note.
As with other offerings from Fleurieu, a noticeably extract ale, although, as with homebrew, the stouts tend to come off better than the paler varieties.
Licorice sweetness, minimal roasted astringency, and slight sherbet note.
Explosive effervescence, coupled with big head, imply some additional and perhaps unplanned bottle fermentation. Very interesting tingly tongue supporting the sherbet impression.
Late & accumulative bitterness finishes it off well.
All up better than its siblings.
