Bazi Fifth Anniversary Quad was brewed with publican Hilda Stevens to celebrate five years of her wonderful Belgian focused bar. The beer is done in the famous abbey style with characteristic notes of dark fruit and spice in the nose, followed by a series of other flavors on the palate including oak, wine, and spirit as the beer enjoyed a short maturation period in port-finish whiskey casks. A slight acidity on the finish maintains drinkability in this robust beer.

Rich but vibrant. Great carbonation and retention. Vanilla, toffee, huge licorice and molasses hit. Raisins and a pinch of miscellaneous yeast driven spice notes. But this really hangs from that vanilla and licorice spine. A touch of acidity to balance it out. For the abv, insanely smooth.

On tap at the brewery today.
A dark ruddy brown with a thin, brown head, this looks solid. The nose is solid with cocoa, golden raisins, honey, a little allspice, a firming hop bitterness and a moderate sweetness. Caramel and burnt sugar are perceived. Mildly floral as well. Similar on the palate, though alcohol is noticeable, especially on the finish. The touch of vanilla is indicative of the short barrel aging this beer was subject to. Solid stuff
