Barrel Blend #1 is a collaboration with Gavin Lord of Pfriem Family Brewers. The beer is a 50/50 mix of an Oud Bruin that was extensively aged in both a foudre and smaller casks, with a batch of Six that we matured in former Oregon Native barrels with spent pinot noir grapes still inside. The finished blend has a tremendous oak expression and complex fruit flavors throughout, ranging from orange and apricot to cherry and petite sirah.

Crowler from Bailey's.

A deep, ruddy brown with reddish brown highlights and a thin, beige head that falls off quite quickly, this looks nice. The nose is a great blend of an oude bruin and a definite grape/Pinot Noir character. Plenty of oak and some grape skin tannins are noticeable. A lactic and mildly acetic sharpness are present, along with a delightful fruit character, a blend of cherry, nectarine and some lemon peel. A little bit of vanilla is present as well. The palate opens sour with a blend of sour cherry, red wine grape, a little blackberry and an ethereal stone fruit character. A blend of a meaty lactic acid, a brief but sharp acetic acid note that's tempered by grape and red wine notes and a moderate amount of oak is present on the mid-palate, along with a mild rye note. Drying, moderately tannic on the finish, this beer is medium-light in body, moderately carbonated and quite creamy. Excellent.
