Barrel Aged Juzek 13º is a small two cask blend of the Czech style tmavé pivo we made for Bailey's Taproom. Matured in rye whiskey barrels, the smooth, rich lager dried out a bit and picked up great rye character evident in the nose, along with some oak spice and light char while maintaining a smooth profile.

Crowler from Bailey's.
Black with a dark brown head with excellent retention and lacing. The nose is very similar to the base beer with a nice roasty, coffee-like note to go with buckwheat honey, cacao nibs and a lager yeast note. A faint whiskey note is present as well. The palate opens roasty with coffee and cocoa, and a noticeable decocted-like malt flavor. The hop flavor that this beer had while fresh is no more, and is replaced with a mild vanilla/burnt sugar note. Whiskey lingers on the finish, in conjunction with the roasted malt note. The combination of the clean lager yeast with the barrel character is intriguing, not unlike the Heater Allen Gin-barrel aged Mediator. Medium-light in body, moderately carbonated, this beer is soft and creamy on the palate. A touch watery. Solid
