a weird yeast driven blonde ale here, but not conventionally belgian yeast character, its different, the kveik yeast fermented super warm they say, apparently a lot warmer than i have ever known it, less of the lower esters more of a simple essence of the yeast character i have known from this strain in the past, but they really pop in this. i thought it might be a little more rustic, as i have come to appreciate and admire that characteristic of so many upright beers, but this one is pretty refined. simple on the grain side, i taste crackery pils malt and pale wheat, little or nothing else, dry too, which really makes the yeast stand out in the flavor here. notes of coriander, floral honey, white tea, and pink peppercorn spiciness all come out of it, a light citrus aspect too, and some spirited bitterness on the back end from the hops. its a very flavorful beer, but and its approaching phenolic for a moment, but its also somehow quite clean, a weird yeast strain this kveik seems to be. different beer overall, especially in this style, but not different in the upright way that i love and revere so much. not going to say i was disappointed with such an original and well made beer, but i wanted something a little more in the rustic saison range perhaps. very bright, summery, and memorable though.rustic
