certainly not the kind of beer i know and love these guys for, and not the thing i came here to the source to drink, but its cool they are doing some clean english stuff like this, and the quality is excellent. this is clear and lighter than amber pale colored with a high white head and nice retention, bready and nutty on the malt side, complimented by a baked element to the old world ale yeast strain, and just a pinch of bittering hops that add a dim herbal balance to the back end, simple stuff in a lot of ways, especially for upright, but a beer that fits in their portfolio just fine from a quality standpoint, no surprise there. a fresh baked character overall, earthy and late summer harvest timey, nice balance, good water chemistry for the style, and real solid carbonation which you dont always see in these, uplifting. low alcohol, tidy all around, and dry, all which lend to infinite drinkability, if it werent for so many more exciting beers to drink here at upright! i love it being on the lighter end of the malt spectrum for the style, and i like its wide appeal and approachability in a place where maybe their most ambitious beers take some curiosity or willingness to be challenged. tasty, drinkable, hearty for being this light. well done.

On cask at the source.
A clear iridescent gold with a dense white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is soft, delicately biscuit and malty with smooth honey, creamy, lightly toasted malt, some combination of Golden Promise and Simpsons malt? Light hoppiness. The palate opens clean, fruity with light malt, with honey, a little golden sugar, and a nice hop bite, clean and light, mildly leafy and earthy. Fantastic mouthfeel. Delightful.
